Student responses could include: -Mark has been in trouble with the law from the age of 14 years -Research shows that dramatic biological changes occur during adolescence -These physiological changes occur before full maturity -The gap between physical and neurological maturity can be used to partly explain Mark's behaviour.Antisocial behaviour peaks during adolescence -In addition, the study tells of alcohol and drug use which can produce disinhibition, poor social judgement and aggression.This could have influenced Mark's involvement in the fight that lead to the knifing -Mark also experienced a serious head injury that left him unconscious for three days.Consideration should be given to the possibility that Mark has an acquired brain injury that is affecting his social judgement, impulse control, levels of aggression and sensitivity to alcohol.
