To use CLARITY and confocal microscopy you would have to know which areas are sexually dimorphic and stain them. You could use a fluorescent Nissl stain with confocal microscopy, but this approach is much less straightforward and you could not use confocal microscopy alone. Intracellular dye fills only tell you something about single neurons. Electron microscopy is at too fine a scale for this question.
