According to psychoanalytic theory, the preconscious part of the mind is the part that holds ideas, thoughts, etc. which is easily accessible to us.
The preconscious doesn't hold thoughts we are having at present, but are easily recalled. For example, you may not be immediately thinking about your mother's birthday, but if asked, you might easily recall it. The conscious part of the mind is what we are presently thinking about, whereas the unconscious mind is the part of the mind that contains memories, beliefs, urges, and instincts that one is not aware.
