This is two of the five steps of a crisis intervention and suicide. They are designed to secure the safety of the client and all of the immediately involved. Assess the reason for the threat and the proper actions to follow through with. You should never confront the sincerity of a client on the behavior that puts the client at risk. It could exacerbate the threat and threatened the client and counselor bond that is so important to build.
