Most theories from classical conditioning have been devised in clinical settings and whilst they have a good level of evidence in these settings it can be difficult to translate them to a workplace environment. To work fully, rewards or punishments need to be given virtually immediately, which can be very difficult in a work setting. The rewards or punishments also need to be continuous, again, this is very difficult to maintain in a workplace.
