Taking into consideration the equilibrium constant for the adenylate kinase reaction (page 585), calculate the change in concentration in AMP that would occur if 8% of the ATP in an erythrocyte (red blood cell) were suddenly hydrolyzed to ADP. In addition to the concentration values in Table 18.2, it may be useful to assume that the initial concentration of AMP in erythrocytes is 5 µM.
