When sending messages, how effective are you at checking the receiver’s understanding? Can you improve? If so, how?

When sending messages an individual can be less effective at checking the receivers understanding. The individual can improve by asking questions from the receiver. Direct questions about the specific information will indicate the individual if the receiver has been listening and whether he or she understands enough to give an appropriate reply. If the response is not accurate the individual can repeat the message by elaborating it further.
