Motivation theory main objective is to discover what drives employees to work for their predetermined set goals. Businesses use motivational theory, because individuals who are motivated are productive and they lead to more economic use of resources. Most of the motivational theories help to differentiate between intrinsic and extrinsic factors.
Three major classes of motivation theories are as follows:
1. Content motivation theory: It is also known as need theory. Content motivation theories are associated with concentrated view on the importance of identifying what motivates the employees. Content motivation theory helps in determining what employees’ needs are and what motivates them to fulfill all these needs. Content theory focuses on some important factors within individual that can be helpful to direct, energize and sustain individual.
