Levels of Authority consist of the following:

1. Authority to inform: The supervisor can be informed about a possible alternative action. The supervisor in turn can take decisions accordingly.

2. The authority to recommend: Alternative decisions and actions are listed and analyzed. One action, then is recommended. But the recommendation cannot be implemented without the supervisor’s consent. The boss may or may not agree with the recommendation made. Committees are usually given the authority to recommend.
