Exercise Physiology: Theory and Application to Fitness and Performance 9th Edition by Scott Powers, Edward Howley
Edition 9ISBN: 0073523534Discuss the practical and theoretical differences between an interval training program used to improve the ATP-PC system and a program designed to improve the ATP production via glycolysis.
Step 1 of 3
ATP-PC system (adenosine triphosphate and phosphocreatine system) and anaerobic glycolysis are the two principal sources of energy for events that last fewer than 60 seconds. Anaerobic training aims at delivering performance above the VO2 max, with focus on stimulation of anaerobic energy production. Anaerobic training involves two different methods; speed training and speed endurance training. While speed training includes anaerobic training lasting two to ten seconds, speed endurance training involves all forms of anaerobic training lasting more than ten seconds.
