What is the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes?

The metabolic condition which is characterized by persistent high levels of blood sugar is called diabetes mellitus or diabetes. The condition occurs either due to the failure of the body to produce adequate insulin or the body’s cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both. Depending on the type of onset, it is characterized into type I and type II diabetes.
