Exercise induced protein synthesis is an example of maintenance of homeostasis. Exercise or endurance training results in a shift in fast-to-slow muscle fiber type. There is a reduction in the amount of fast myosin in the muscle and an increase in slow myosin isoforms. This requires increased synthesis of slow myosin isoforms, which occur through cell signaling events that activate the genes required for the protein synthesis.
