Major Security Issues

The major security issues dealt with at each level of the OSI protocol stack are:

• Higher layers cannot be secured without the lower layers also being secured.

ARP Spoofing: This is a technique where an attacker can send fake messages to a LAN (local area network) machine. The aim of attacker is to link the attacker's MAC address with the IP address of another host and to show that the sender is the person who it claims it to be.

MITM (Man in the Middle Attack): When a person in between the transmission of the packet tries to misuse the data illegally this is called Man in the Middle Attack.

SQL Injection Attack: SQL injection is when someone inserts a malicious code into one of SQL queries and tries to access private and confidential data.

• Physical layer goes through the attacks like passive optical taps or the interception of wireless network signals by attackers.
