Step 1 of 2

Points of Failure at Website Hosting

The points of failure that can occur in the website hosting are given below:

• To host a web site the single point of failure mainly arises at the Domain Name Server (DNS). DNS is the distribution of the naming system for services, computers or any other resource connected to a network. To host a web site the user need to have a specific domain address. The domain name server may become corrupted due to volume of the traffic, poor server configuration or bad record.

• The second field to protect is the database System. The database regarding the domain names is greatly prone to failure.

• The point of failure is also observed when the requested domain name exceeds the available space. At this point of time the excess web site domain space may be assigned a garbage value or may over right the existing values.

• Erroneous data of multiple processors will also lead to failure of the system.
