Multiprogramming:

• Multiprogramming is a process in which several programs are run simultaneously at same time on a single processor.

• In multiprogramming protecting one user’s programs and data from others user’s program and data is very important aspect for an operating system.

Protected objects in computing system:

Multiprogramming leads to the protection of many types of resources by the operating system like,

• Sharable programs , procedures ,and sub-procedures

• Memory

• Sharable disk I/O

• Sharable I/O devices like printers

• Shared Databases(data)

Basic security methods of operating system:

• Physical separation

• Temporal separation

• Logical separation

• Cryptographic separation
