In the year 1912, the two physicians Brues and Rosenau, set forth that spread of polio is through the stable fly. W. H. Frost and one of his colleagues experimentally denied this. He relied particularly on the clinical research for his research.

He collected serums for laboratory research that allowed certain statistical analysis. The utilization of statistics was largely enhanced by Frost.
