Step 1 of 2

Secondary sources of transmission of a disease are those sources in which an infected people directly spread the pathogen to other healthy individuals. The disease can be spread by the infected people through skin contact, sexual contact, by kissing, hair, dander, sweat, coughing, and many others.

The secondary transmission is also spread through the flies and fomites which serve as a vector for transmission of this disease. There are many cases of epidemics of shigellosis which are transmitted by these vectors in a crowded population and area which have poor sanitation.
