Trusted Computer Security Evaluation Criteria
1. TCSEC stands for Trusted Computer Security Evaluation Criteria. This was developed by the United States defense department (DOD). TCSEC is also known as orange book because of its orange cover. The last and final version of TCSEC was released in 1985.
The Trusted Computing Base (TCB) describes the protection mechanisms used in computer systems for TCSEC. The trusted system should be reliable, secure, and operational effective.
The earlier effort for security assurance includes grouping of requirements. The levels of security are described in this grouping. The TCSEC outlines both security assurance requirements with the functional requirements.
