Trichomonas vaginalis causes trichomoniasis disorder.
• Trichomonas vaginalis (protozoan) that causes inflammation in vagina.
Diagnostic features:
• Vaginal fluid appears frothy, yellow green, with increased volume
• pH of vagina will be greater than 4.5
• 2+-4+ white blood cells (WBCs) are noticed
• Amine test produces positive result
• Clue cells and other cells occasionally present
• Motile trichomonads are seen in vaginal fluid
