Osmotic diarrhea:

Osmotic diarrhea is a type of diarrhea caused by poor absorption that applies osmotic pressure in intestinal mucosa

The following are the causes of osmotic diarrhea:

• Lactose intolerance due to disaccharidase deficiency

• Antibiotic administrations

• Malabsorption due to celiac sprue

• Amebiasis

• Poor absorption of sugars like lactose, mannitol and sorbitol

• Laxatives

• Magnesium-containing antacids
