A micro culture is a group of individuals who have similar tastes, preferences and values that are included in a large culture. The characteristics of this micro group may be different from that of the large cultural group. Following are some of the characteristics and values associated with the millennials: • These people were raised in very protective environment and had limited contact with outside world and thus, they have used technology to build communities and interaction with other people. • Millennials are highly optimistic and impulsive in nature. They use non-traditional methods and very quick in decision making. • Unlike baby boomers, they believe in team work and win-win situation. • They put their comfort and happiness first, which is often misinterpreted as lacking commitment and focus. • They are much of technology oriented and are always into looking for socializing. Thus, the above points tell us that the people of this generation are different from other generation. These people form a cohort where some life changing events shape the personality and behavior of all the people in the group. The markets are similar for the millennials even though there is no similarity in other ways. Thus, it could be said that millennial generation could be considered as a micro-culture as it exhibits traits and characteristics that are exhibited by all the people in that group.

People and companies are using such platforms for their marketing campaigns and in order to spread awareness. Combining time spent on social media platforms by millennials with their sheer numbers that is around 60,000,000 in the United States and it can be very well said based on the numbers that millennials possess great social power in the present times.

Freedom to people of this generation also has different meaning as compared to people from different generation. Freedom for them is being connected with friends over internet rather being having an automobile. Thus, above given are some of the points that highlight how social media and group influence have defined the millennial generation.
