The bradykinin is a peptide in nature which is released during some infection or wound. It dilates the blood vessels and causes inflammation along with pain. The dilation of blood vessels lowers the blood pressure. ACE (Angiotensin Converting enzyme) inhibitors are the class of drugs which decrease the blood pressure. The ACE inhibitors favor the working of bradykinin. The bradykinin causes hypotension by dilating the blood vessels. The ACE inhibitors also cause inflammation related pain which is also seen on the effect of bradykinin.
Alzheimer's disease is the diseased condition in which the working of the brain gets impaired and the person becomes slow. During this problem, there is less secretion of acetylcholine in the brain. The primary drug class for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease is acetyl cholinesterase inhibitors. This class of drugs acts by preventing the acetyl cholinesterase enzyme to act and preventing the breakdown of the acetylcholine. There is another class of drugs known as NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) antagonist. This NMDA favours the formation of glutamate. The glutamate is formed in this disease in an excess amount which makes the condition worse. Thus, NMDA antagonists prevent the formation of more glutamate and prevent the disease to become severe.
