Therefore, their beliefs, inspiration, hard-work and dedication to learn oneself led towards the development and innovation of new engineering ideas and techniques. Thus, engineers of past didn't required any books or formal classes to achieve success.

Profession refers to "a type of job that requires special education, training, or skill". Therefore, the characteristic of a profession are as follows: • Require specialized skills and knowledge. • Maintain confidential relationship between practitioner or employer or a client. • Have a substantial degree of a recognized institution. • Rendering services for public benefits rather than personal motives. Engineering as a profession requires the application of mathematics and scientific knowledge that are either gained by study or experience practical training with an aim to develop, invent, or utilize the resources for the benefit of mankind. Likewise, management as a profession also requires specialized knowledge of human, business, leadership skills financial and physical resources that may be either developed by study or training with a motive to serve mankind and the organization. By the above discussion it can be clearly observed that the characteristic of both engineering and management satisfy the several parts of the definition and characteristic of a profession.

Engineering covers a wide range of activities; therefore, it comprises an uncertainty regarding inclusion of other professions into it. Therefore, exact number of professionals involved in this profession could not be determined with accuracy. Likewise, the exact number of persons working as a physician, in Country U; is hard to determine. Since, physician profession also covers many possible activities, just like the engineering profession.
