Deck 3: The Project Management Framework
1
Define Scope Management and describe its component processes?
Scope Management is one of the nine knowledge areas of PMI's PMBOK. It describes the processes and methods required to ensure that the project delivers exactly what the customer requested and only what the customer requested to create a successful project. Component processes are collect requirements, define scope, create WBS, verify scope, and control scope.
2
Describe the deliverables of scope planning and scope definition.
As a result of scope planning and scope definition, three major deliverables are produced: requirements document; scope statement; work breakdown structure (WBS). In addition, the WBS dictionary is produced to support the WBS. The requirements document describes how each requirement meets a business need for the project. The scope statement provides a documented basis for making future project decisions and for confirming or developing a common understanding of project scope among the stakeholders. The WBS defines each outcome or deliverable that is required to build the product, and its dictionary provides further details of the work packages and control accounts.
