Deck 7: Codes for Positioning and Milling
1
Rapid positioning will always move in a straight line from the current position to the programmed position.
False
2
What will happen if calculations are not accurate for the X-, Y-, I-, and J-coordinates?
Full-quadrant arcs are relatively easy to program without too many calculations. However, arcs that start or end at an odd angle may require the use of trigonometry to find the end points or the I- and J-values. We must be careful to make these calculations with a high degree of accuracy and not let rounding errors stack up. The calculations will need to be accurate to at least 0.001" for the X-, Y-, I-, and J-coordinates. Otherwise the machine will produce an error message telling us that the arc cannot be made with these values.
3
When programming toolpaths, you will never need to return to the machine zero on any axis.
False
4
Using R with circular interpolation is straightforward-you simply use the ____ of the arc instead of I and J.
A) chord length
B) angular measure
C) area
D) radius
