What additional measurements are made during a GXT of a cardiac patient, as compared to an apparently healthy individual?
Step-by-step solution
Step 1 of 2
Graded exercise tests (GXT) are used to asses cardiac patient for whom exercise test can be done and are not dangerous. During GXT for a cardiac patient, a variety of leads that are not used for a normal healthy individual are used to constantly monitor the changes. Blood pressure, rated perceived exertion, and various signs of exhaustion are noted. The GXT is terminated not only on the basis of heart rate, but also based on various pathological signs like ST-segment depression (of ECG – electrocardiogram).
