How is body temperature measured during exercise?

Though the peripheral body temperature is easily measured, core body temperature measurements may be required to record the change in internal temperature. The following are the devices used to measure core body temperatures:

• Thermometers

• Thermocouples or thermistors

• Ingestible core temperature pills

The following are the body parts where the core temperature is usually measured:

• Rectum

• Near the eardrum (tympanic temperature)

• Esophagus
