What is the efficiency of the aerobic degradation of glucose?

During aerobic respiration (of glucose), most of the energy is harvested through oxidative phosphorylation. The energy is coupled to synthesize ATP (adenosine triphosphate). Therefore, the efficiency of the system is calculated by computing the ratio of the energy contained in the ATP synthesized during aerobic respiration divided by the total potential energy contained in the glucose.
