Bioenergetics deals with the energy involved in the biochemical reactions. Organisms require a constant supply of energy to drive their life processes. They obtain this energy from breakdown of complex organic molecules of the food they consume. Carbohydrates in the diet serve as carbon and energy source. Most of the energy a cell/organism obtains is through aerobic respiration. Glucose serves the starting material for the biological oxidation process.
