Incident and Its types
An incident can be defined as any mishappening caused to hardware or software components in the organization. Any security breach can be treated as an incident. An incident can be small taking few hours to be corrected or large taking many days to recover.
Some examples of the types of incidents that may occur are given below:
• Natural disasters such as flood, fire, and so on cause an incident to occur as it destroys the systems and the information stored in them.
• Failure of some important software component, electricity, network access, and so on.
• Attack of intruder over the network, virus attack, denial of service attack, and other relevant attacks leading to occurrence of incidents.
