Disadvantages of Physical separation and Temporal separation

The two disadvantages to use the physical separation in the computing environment are given below:

• With physical separation, the execution time for a process is increased as the device allocated to a process cannot be used by another process at the same time, so the process will have to wait until the previous process release the device.

• Physical separation decreases resource utilization, since the hardware waiting time is increased. With the process operating parallel the resource that is empty can be assigned to another process, but in the hardware are separately assigned.
