In epidemiology there are two basic measures of disease frequency are prevalence and incidence.

Prevalence of the disease or Prior Probability is the probability of having a disease prior to the diagnostic test.

Where, TP is true positive and FN is false negative

Prevalence measures the frequency of the existing disease. There two types of measures that come under prevalence- point and period prevalence. There is no unit for prevalence; however, the time at which people were counted must be recorded always.
