An epidemic curve is a graphical representation (in the form of a histogram) of number of cases that occur in a disease outbreak or epidemic such that it displays the course of the epidemic, plotted over time, starting from the time of onset of the outbreak. The form that the histogram takes is used to propose a hypothesis describing disease’s nature and the mode by which it is transmitted.
