Think about a particular time in your own life, for example a family emergency, when you feel you were not adequately prepared to respond to the event. For example, imagine you went on an overnight backpacking trip with a small child and didn’t take adequate supplies to get you through the hike.

1. What could you have done beforehand to avert some of the consequences of a lack of preparedness?

2. What could you have done to foresee events requiring contingency responses?
