Describe the formation and function of synovial fluid.
Step-by-step solution
Step 1 of 2
Synovial fluid:
Synovial or movable joints have a hollow space filled with viscous fluid termed as synovial or joint fluid.
Synovial fluid-Formation:
• Synovial fluid is formed in synovial membrane as a plasma ultra-filtrate.
• The filtration is nonselective with the exception of avoidance of high-molecular weight proteins.
• The synoviocytes discharge a mucopolysaccharide having hyaluronic acid and a little measure of protein into fluid and this contributes to provide viscosity for the fluid.
