Maturation of spermatozoa:

Spermatozoa or sperm is male gamete, produced by mitosis and meiosis division from primordial germ cell of male.

• The support and nutrients for germ cells to undergo spermatogenesis is provided by the specialized sertoli cells.

• Spermatogonia is the initial cell which yields primary spermatocytes and then to secondary spermatocyte,

• The secondary spermatocyte yields spermatid these develop into sperm or spermatozoa.

• The scrotum provides optimal temperature for sperm development.

• After spermatogenesis, the immature sperm penetrate through epididymis, it is here the spermatozoa matures and develop flagella.
