Distribution of CSF tubes to suitable laboratory sections:

Cerebrospinal fluid specimen is collected in three sterile tubes labeled 1, 2, and 3, and in some cases tube 4.

• Tube 1 is distributed to serologic, and chemistry department

• Tube 2 is distributed to microbiology department

• Tube 3 is distributed to hematology department

• Tube 4 is distributed to microbiology laboratory to remove contamination of skin or to perform further serologic tests
