Casts are cylindrical structure formed in kidney and found in urinary sediment. It was first described by Henry Bence Jones. The collecting ducts and distal convoluted tubules of kidney produce casts. The major component of casts is uromodulin but also albumin and immunoglobulin are present in the cast matrix.
