RACE:

The joint commission had provided the procedures to all-healthcare institutions to be followed during the fire.

• The employees should follow the procedures and take action on fire, mentioned in the acronym RACE.

• Rescue (Rescue anyone in immediate danger.) -When the fire is discovered, the person in danger should be rescued immediately.

• Alarm (Activate the institutional fire alarm system.) -The alarm system should be activated to make the people know about the fire occurred area.

• Contain (Close all doors in affected areas.) -When fire catches, all the doors in the area should be closed to avoid the danger of fire which spreads to other areas.

• Extinguish/evacuate (if possible, attempt to extinguish the fire, or evacuate, close the door.) -Fire should be extinguished by fire extinguisher or by closing the doors in that certain area.
