Deck 5: Tool and Workpiece Setup
1
What is the major advantage of the reference tool method?
The chief advantage of the reference tool method is that it makes it easy to set up subsequent jobs in the machine without having to touch off each tool again. The operator can simply load the reference tool into the spindle and touch the top of the workpiece. At this point, the Z-offset is set and machining can begin. The other tools do not have to be set again because they are already set relative to the reference tool.
