This is not just about passing down your skills and knowledge to someone but more about the fact that you can actually influence the younger generations to find an artist in them and that is always going to be of great help. If you are looking into this, this article prepared by Robert Frank and presented to you by Quizplus is definitely for you.

As a teacher, you might be looking for some photography activities for students and we are here to help you out with the process. There are some theoretical ways you can test the kids you are teaching about photography such as quizzes but at the same time, we have some really good practical ways of teaching photography as well.

Let’s look at what you can do to make sure that photography becomes an important thing for everyone.

1. Taking Part in Photo Walks

If you truly are looking forward to teaching your students how to get better at photography, simply put, do so by going for photography photo walks because they are amongst the best ways that you will have to get started with teaching photography. Every student will have a different perspective on shooting photos, giving you an excellent chance to take some stunning pictures and that too, with ease.

If you are spending some time with students, taking them on photo walks is a great idea as it will bring out the inner photographer from within everyone and will help them have the best idea of what their strengths are.

2. Documenting the Day

Photography projects can be a lot of fun, to be honest. However, the one suggestion that we will always give to everyone is that if you are looking for some ideas, try a day in life or document a day. The project is simple, you give students this activity a day before and ask them to take pictures of how their day looks like the next day. It is an interesting way to bring out creativity.

To make it even more fun, ask them to do this challenge over a weekday and a weekend to see just how different these days are. Sure, some students will have no idea how to get started or perfectly capture the day but this is a great way of ensuring that everyone is just as creative and at least trying, which should be more than enough to get them started.

3. Time Spanning Activity

If you are teaching the newer generation of students from the starting point then the good news is that you will have countless options that you can go for time spanning activities or challenges for students. Let’s assume that you have a course that is going to last 10 weeks.
You can actually hold each week specific to a certain photography style. We do understand that this is not easy for some people to wrap their heads around but you will have a much easier time deciding the strengths and passions of the students.

Take portraits for the first week, then move to something else, and then something else. However, if you want to make it diverse, then add a new style of photography every single day but that is only preferred for more advanced students. For beginners, a week should be dedicated to a single style.

4. Photo Charts

Another thing that we would suggest as an activity is that you should be looking into photo charts. This is going to be different and difficult but hey, it’s fun. Simply make a chart and list down the types of photography or specific objects to photography.

It does seem like an impossible thing to do but trust me, the students are going to have a hard time but at the end, they’ll be able to take stunning pictures and will develop an eye for photography, something that happens to be one of the most important factors whenever you are in the process of learning photography.

5. Thematic Challenges

If you are looking to help your students develop a number of photography styles and that too, with a good eye and understanding, then thematic challenges are an excellent way to go. We do understand that this might sound similar to the time spanning activity, but the difference here is that every day, your students will be presented with a new theme that they will have to handle.

We are aware of the fact that this does pose a number of challenges but when we are about teaching the kids photography and how to handle various photography aspects, it is best that you are looking at all the aspects and you are well prepared about it, too.

6. Mastering Your Preferred Style

Towards the end, we would normally prefer if you are letting
the students master the preferred style. Give them two weeks or so and tell them to research, study, and improve upon the style they like the most. It could be anything ranging from portraits, to landscape, to street, food, product, and more.

The purpose here is simple, most students would not want to be jack of all trades. As a matter of fact, they’d want to be the opposite so they can learn as much as possible about the photography aspect of it and giving them the chance to truly hone their skills is what makes everything so much better. Therefore, we would highly suggest every photographer who is teaching to go ahead and teach photography to everyone in a way that they can identify their own strengths.

Conclusion

Teaching photography can be an overwhelming thing for a lot of people but that does not mean that one cannot learn. There are countless ways of helping your students become better at photography and in this post, we have explained almost all of them.

The point here is simple, your students are willing to learn so make sure that you are helping them hone their skills to a point that they finally identify what they want to do as a photographer rather than trying to master every other style or be aimless about it because that is not going to do them any good.

Find quizzes related to photography on quizplus.com

Teaching photography can be a lot of fun especially when you are looking into ensuring that all your students are learning something and creating something of their own.
