Assume the presence of another set of plates in Fig. 3-4 that establishes a uniform electric field E x = a x E x in the denection region. Deflection voltages v x ( t )and v y ( t )are applied to produce E x and E y , respectively. Determine the types of waveforms that v x ( t )and v y ( t )should have if the electrons are to trace the following graphs on the fluorescent screen:
a) a horizontal line,
b) a straight line having a negative unity slope,
c) a circle,
d) two cycles of a sine wave.
