Pseudouridine is a modified nucleoside commonly found in tRNA.  More than 300 different tRNAs have been characterized and shown to have extensive similarities. They vary in length from 60-95 nucleotides (18- 28 kD) and exhibit a cloverleaf-like secondary structure that is composed of an anticodon loop, a D loop, and a TΨC loop. The D loop contains the modified nucleotide, dihydrouridine, and the TΨC loop contains pseudouridine, hence the derivation of the names for these loops.
